| Dr. Maria Montessori, born in 1870, began studying mathematics, physics, and natural science at the University of Rome. She was one of the highest-ranking students in her class and became the first female doctor in Italy.
In 1907 Dr. Montessori established the first Montessori School in the ghetto of Rome. With no materials and an untrained assistant, she observed the children and provided them with the experiences they lacked. Today the Montessori Method is used world wide and proven to be far ahead of its time. THE MONTESSORI METHOD THE SPECIFIC GOALS OF OVIEDO MONTESSORI SCHOOL Helping each child develop self-confidence: Lessons are designed so that each new step is built on the previous step and on what the child has learned. The child learns to initiate an activity, which in turn is an essential quality of leadership. |
